Cassini Mission to Jupiter!

Cassini

Launch date: Oct. 15, 1997

Designed as a Saturn Orbiter, Cassini's path has taken it past Venus, Earth and Jupiter in a round-about journey to the ringed planet of Saturn. The spacecraft flew by Jupiter on December 30, 2000. Engineers used the Jupiter encounter to test the spacecraft's instruments and operations. During the flyby, Cassini captured incredible images of the gas giant and its larger moons.
